A coloring technique in which shades of color are combined in sequence to create a three-dimensional effect and a gorgeous coloring.
In Japan, it was introduced along with Buddhism and was widely used for decorating temples, Buddhist statues, and Buddhist ritual implements, and evolved into a representative decorative pattern during the Heian period.
