This set of 5 plates carved in the shape of chrysanthemums.
The carved part is lacquered carefully brush by brush.
It is finished in Negoro-nuri technique with the grain of the base wood faintly visible, and can be used for everyday use as well as for formal occasions.

*Negoro-nuri
Negoro-nuri is a technique in which red lacquer is applied over black lacquer.
As the red lacquer wears off over time, the black lacquer underneath rises to the surface, creating an atmospheric abstract pattern.
It is said that this technique was first used by priests at Negoroji Temple in Wakayama Prefecture to produce lacquerware for use in the temple.
